Argumentative Essay

Argumentative essay is the type of essay that we should agree or disagree with the statement. This essay is same with the continuous essay but the different is that in argumentative essay it has refutation before the conclusion.

In argumentative essay the writer has to mention wether disagree or agree with the statement in thesis statement.

In conclusion part it must have refutation. In refutation we have to state the good side of disagree and stand our opinion back.then it should have a advise or way in a conclusion .

Ways to reduce poverty among poor people
“I am tired of being poor, this is humiliating.” A young girl said to herself. She never asked for this poverty fate. She was born in a poor family. She could not own anything that other teens have. I am that young girl. This poverty stopped many people from achieve their dreams. Apart from that, many of  these unfortunate teens do not know that they can seek help to improve their life. This poverty can be improved by government giving help through their children’s education, economy welfare and motivation as a self-improvement.
One of the ways for government to reduce poverty among poor people is by giving their children’s education. As we know, education is an essential towards bright future so by giving them the opportunity to learn, they will be able to improve their life. For example, the government provides free text books and school needs to reduce their parent’s burden instead of buying those things. Other than that, the government also provides scholarship to those poor university students. Scholarship makes student’s life easier as a large amount of money need to be invested in education nowadays. Hence, the rate of poverty among poor people can be decreased through education.
Besides that, government also take care of poor people through their economy welfare by giving them the jobs opportunity and donations. Usually, jobs opportunity is given based on their education level in order to increase their family’s income rate. However, in order to help the poors, the government also contributes donations such as money, food, and clothes. These necessary things help them to reduce their burden to live their life. Thus, economy welfare is one of the major steps to be taken by government to reduce the poverty among poor people.
Last but not least, poverty can be improved by giving motivation as a self-improvement. The government can conduct a motivation that can change people’s perception towards poverty. This motivation contains activities that improved their poverty life such as involve in agriculture business. Apart from that, the government can help by giving them some additional capital to start their own business. Besides that, teenagers should not think that they are troubling their parents by going to school and asking for educational money. Instead, those teenagers should realize that only education can improve their life better. Therefore, we must use wisely all the contribution that has been made by the government and no matter what, we must set in our mind that this life can be change if we have some effort.
As a conclusion, poverty can be improved in a lot of ways and they should not give up in order to achieve their own dreams. Our society can live much better than yesterday if they know how to use the benefits that had been given from thegovernment. Government should play an important role to curb this poverty issues among our community. Not just that, we should not underestimate and categorize people based on their ways of life. Instead, we should think ahead in order to change our life’s fate.

HOW STUDENT SPEND THEIR TIME AFTER CLASSES

The pie chart shows that how students spend their time after classes based on percentage such as indoor activities, socialising, studying, going for movies and outdoor activities .(OVERVIEW)
Based on the pie chart, we can infer that almost 35% of the students love to spend their time after class by doing indoor activities such as playing computer, cooking and collecting stamps.         This might be due to lower cost of activities and easy access of internet.(CONTROLLING IDEA & KF 1)
Besides that, it also can be seen that 25% of the students which is the second highest percentage spend their time after class by socialising such as chatting online, going out with friends and visiting places.(CONTROLLING IDEA & KF 2)
The pie chart indicates that 20% of students spend their time after classes with studying. They take this time to do their homework, assignments, projects, research and study group. 15% gap might be because the students need to relax then focussing on their studies.(CONTROLLING IDEA & KF 3)
On the other hand, outdoor activities and going to movie have the same percentage which is 10%. For instance, exercising, gardening, watch comedies and romance movies. It shows that these two types of activities are the least popular activities among students due to the lack of time(CONTROLLING IDEA & KF 2)

The percentage of indoor activities will increase steadily while going for movies as well as outdoor activities will decrease considerably. This situation happens because students are more likely spend their quality time with indoor activities  instead of going out because it is wasting their time. (PREDICTION – PROPOSAL)

How to Develop The Best Introductory Paragraph”.
The paragraph is divided into 3 sections:
a)      The hook - Designed to grab attention immediately and give some indication about the essay’s topic.
b)      The Transition - Moves the reader from the hook to the driving force of the essay….
c)       The Thesis - Makes the contract with the reader about what will be discussed without a blatant announcement.
There are 7 types of hook that we can choose to write the paragraph. There are
1.       Personal examples
2.       Quotations
3.       Facts or statistics
4.       Rhetorical questions
5.       Current events
6.       Contrast to the thesis statement
7.       Definition
Below are the types of hook with the examples:
·         Red represent hook
·         Green represent transition
·         Indigo represent thesis
PERSONAL EXAMPLE
First time I saw him at the bus station. He was alone by himself. He was very messy with his tattered cloths and only with barefooted. I felt pity of him and I want to help him as I could. I went to him and try to talk to him. Suddenly, he cried by my side because nobody wanted to be around him. I tried to calm him as he explained his situation. I felt very sad when I listen to his problems, he has seven children who are still young and his wife is a disabled woman. Coincidently, he was lucky that my father needs a gardener to help him to look after our gardens. Pak Abu is now our gardener at homeAs a matter of fact, Pak Abu’s experiences of poverty life make him really suffered and it effected his life completely. Thus, the effects of poor and poverty can be seen physically, psychologically and socially in a person’s daily life.
QUOTATIONS
“I am tired of being poor, this is humiliating.” A young girl said to herself. She never asked for this poverty fate. She was born in a poor family. She could not own anything that other teens have. I am that young girl. This poverty stopped many people from achieve their dreams. Apart from that, many of  these unfortunate teens do not know that they can seek help to improve their life. This poverty can be improved by government giving help through their children’s education, economy welfare and motivation as a self-improvement.

FACTS OR STATISTICS
According to Utusan Malaysia, 45 thousands of foreign workers migrated to Malaysia legally to fill up the opportunity of jobs here. Most of the foreign workers are coming from Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand. This situation has caused a problem to local workers as 45 thousand people in Malaysia have been unemployed. Thus, unemployment of local workers more or less gives a lot of negative effect especially to Malaysia such as the crime rate will increase, money exchange frequently done by foreign workers and the income level of local workers will decrease.

RHETORICAL QUESTIONS
Did you know that each year college students spent a lot of money on alcohol? This is more than they spend on soft drink, milk, juice, tea, coffee and books combined. Why do college students spend so much money to get drunk at the end of a hard week of studying? It is because there is nothing else to do or is it because drinking relieves problem that the person is trying to avoid. One of the major problems of alcohol is related to the cognitive dissonance. Drinking alcohol has an effect on students’ cognitive dissonance such as a connection between how much students drink, their dissonance level and what causes the student loss their dissonance.

CURRENT EVENTS
In 2007, the Star newspaper reported that an IPTS student in Segamat has dumped a baby in a plastic bag into a big drain. The baby which his umbilical cord is still intact was found by a good Samaritan. Two years later, Malaysia was shocked again by the same news: A fisherman had accidently fished a black plastic bag which he taught it was an ordinary plastic bag that had been littered by the irresponsible persons. He then opened the plastic bag out of curiosity and then was horrified for what he saw. A decayed baby!. This news proved that the statistics of social problems are increasing up until now. Thus, to ace these social problems, one should have a strong moral value, parents should play their roles effectively and one should use media wisely.

CONTRAST TO THE THESIS STATEMENT
Since the back of thousands years ago, alcohol has been famous and promoted in human lives. In chemistry, alcohol has been used for many things such as to produce ethanol and methanol which are commonly used in medication. Ethanol is used to treat methanol poisoning by reducing the rate of which methanol is metabolised. Research in the last few years found that there are a lot of advantages of alcohol such as the source of energy in the diet and can release our stress. However, nowadays alcohol leads to many harmful drawbacks. Thus, the disadvantages of alcohol can cause liver’s damage, poor judgement, and effect of our brain.

DEFINITION
Acquired immune deficiency syndrome or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is defined as a disease of the human immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) known as a deadly virus that was originated in the early 80’s of the twentieth century. What do you think once you see the patient of AIDS? Do you feel scared or disgusted?.  Unfortunately, many of us do not know what   AIDS patients had gone through in their lives with this disease. Some of them get the disease in advertent but some of them get it because of themselves. This disease has become a serious crisis for the whole world today. Due to the above statements,  AIDS  can  give many bad effects to a person’s  life such as it leads to fatal, it  wastes  money  to get treatments and being ignored by  the society .

want to be a better writer ??

Today i have learned how to write a better essay, for create a great essay first we have to know how to develop our point given and we must elaborate it well. Like what Miss zu said "you must have to hook the reader "  so i wondering do i have to be a fisherwoman ? nehhh haha. We have to hook the reader so that they doesnt feel boring when reading our essay we have to put a little bit excitement in a paragraph and to spice it more we put a curios feeling in our essay so that they the reader will feel excited to know what next.

talking based on fact or opinion

 Hello readers,

Today, i've learned about how to identify which of the statement is fact or opinion. Uuuhhh i am so excited because today is a combination between class A and class B i have a lot of friends at class B that's why i feel a little bit comfort  that night. We have been separated to a few group and miss zu has given a task to promote the product and we must to identify which statement is fact and which is opinion. And the group who get the highest mark will be a winner. too bad my group lost the game. but its oke .maybe we will be lucky next time.

okay now let me show u the example of fact and opinion

A FACT

Fact is objective information that can be checked /proved to be true, the information does not change and not a statement about the future.

want to identify fact
?? its easy let me show u
  • use  dates and years
  • use of statistics / figures / precise numbers or quantities
  • use defination
  • when stating  a geographical or scientific fact
OPINION
Opinion is a statement that cannot be proved to be true or false and can be a statement of the future.

Clues to identify opinions:
  • use adjective when change point of view or emotion. eg: exciting/fun/worst
  • the use of comparison words which shows a comparison between two or more things. eg: more/most/better/worst/least
  • use of other words that shows frequency, possibility, advisability, and necessity.                       eg: probably/likely/perhaps/may/should/must/always/usually/often/occasionally
  • use phrases that show a belief, suggestion, feelling, and an opinion. eg: in my opinion/i feel/appear

After the presentation was finished. Miss Zu asked me to get along with them. then I keep asking myself "Do I have to sit with them?" because I don't really know who they are. And I follow what Miss Zu asked me to and dingggggg! Here come the awkward moment again. But its ok, maybe I need some time to get along with them.

Suddenly, Miss Zu came to me and told me that my presentation was next. Like OMG!! I don't prepared anything yet for my presentation, after 'Labu' said that our presentation is next week I felt so fuhhhhhh!! I'm relieve. So I just waited for the next classes.
